LEONIDAS FUENTES, FUNDAP Agricultural

My name is Leonidas Fuentes, and I am originally from San Pedro, San Marcos. I currently serve as a Field Appraisal Technician, mainly carrying out collateral appraisals and providing technical assistance to beneficiaries of FUNDAP’s Microcredit program.

I learned about a job opportunity at the Foundation through social media, specifically to provide direct support to communities. Motivated by this service-oriented focus, I submitted my application and received the opportunity to contribute from my profession to the work the institution carries out.

I fully identify with FUNDAP’s mission and vision, as my personal and professional principles are aligned with the Foundation’s social purpose. I enjoy fieldwork and getting close to families in the communities, providing them with accompaniment and technical support to improve their living conditions.

Beyond my role as a Field Technician, I consider myself a resilient and persevering person, committed to meeting my goals — always with the purpose of contributing to the well-being of others. Direct contact with communities and identifying their needs is one of the experiences that most impacts my life, since it motivates me to keep contributing my knowledge and experience to support local development.

Being part of FUNDAP has been an extremely enriching experience, because it allows me to live out my vocation of service. I have had the chance to reach remote communities and respond to livestock emergencies — such as the case of a family whose cattle developed a case of bloat (timpanism).

For these families, animals are their main resource and means of subsistence; for that reason, losing even one of them means a considerable economic blow. By providing the necessary technical assistance, I came to understand that, from our role at the institution and through small actions, we can generate significant changes in the quality of life of the families we serve.

To new collaborators at the Foundation, I would like to share that the best way to do our work is to love what we do, act with commitment, and always think about the well-being of others — thereby contributing to the development of our society.

For me, FUNDAP represents an opportunity to serve.
