GLENDY MENCHÚ, FUNDAP Healthcare

My name is Glendy Menchú, and I am originally from Totonicapán. I work as a facilitator for the Specialization course at the Technical School of Health, following up with graduates with the goal of giving them training opportunities through new specializations and strengthening their skills — so they can broaden their chances of entering the healthcare workforce.

One of the aspects I value most about FUNDAP’s work is its firm commitment to prioritizing opportunities for communities, in keeping with its goal of eradicating poverty. I fully identify with this approach in my own calling and personal mission of service — supporting and accompanying those who need it most.

Beyond my professional role within the Foundation, I am a mother, a wife, and a daughter. From this personal vantage point, I strive to always give my best, with empathy and commitment, convinced that many people need not only technical support but also human and caring accompaniment.

I hold particular meaning in the experience of a student from a very remote community, who had very limited resources but a strong desire to better himself. The School and the Foundation arranged comprehensive support for him, providing a safe environment and the accompaniment he needed for his development. To be a witness to his growth and to know that today he works in a hospital is one of the greatest sources of satisfaction in my work, and it reaffirms the positive impact that opportunities accompanied by commitment and solidarity can generate.

Being part of FUNDAP represents, for me, the chance to contribute to work with high social impact, where I can fully exercise my vocation. This experience has allowed me to grow on both a personal and a professional level, strengthening my capabilities and generating new learning.

To those joining the Foundation as new collaborators, I urge you to take on your work with social sensitivity, values, and principles — always acting with respect and love toward your neighbor, as the foundation for achieving real and sustainable change. For me, FUNDAP is hope and the opportunity to transform lives.
