Vivian Raquel Presencin is 29 years old and part of the Village Banks team as an advisor at FUNDAP Microcredit’s Tecpán, Chimaltenango branch, where she also lives.
Her work contributes directly to FUNDAP’s impact in the communities—not only by carrying out administrative tasks, but by accompanying, listening to, and treating each person with dignity, helping build bridges of trust, empowering women, and equipping them with important tools to transform their lives.
One particularly meaningful experience Vivian shares is the story of a Village Bank beneficiary who, at first, was shy and lacked confidence. With the trust and space offered to her, she gradually became actively involved—until eventually becoming president of her Village Bank. Vivian believes that teamwork among staff and shared vision are the keys to overcoming the daily challenges they face.
What Vivian values most is the human connection she builds with each person. Witnessing the strength and determination of women striving to improve their lives—watching them grow not just economically, but also as confident individuals, mothers, and leaders—is incredibly rewarding. Through their empowerment, families and communities are also strengthened, always with a foundation of respect and dignity.
For those unfamiliar with FUNDAP’s work, Vivian describes it as the most fulfilling experience one can live—because it doesn’t just transform the lives of beneficiaries, it transforms the lives of the collaborators as well. “What may seem like a small step for someone is a huge milestone for us,” she says. It’s a job filled with purpose—challenging and satisfying at the same time. Helping people take small steps that lead to great achievements—that’s the essence of the work Vivian loves doing at FUNDAP.
