María always wanted to help her family and her community, working in a pharmacy. She graduated as an expert in business administration and started working in a pharmacy, but she lacked the most important thing: having health knowledge. Thanks to training as a Voluntary Health Promoter, she now works in a medical clinic in charge of pre- and post-consultation.
When you achieve your dream, it is a long and beautiful road, from a very young age. This is the story of María Herrera, a graduate of the Retalhuleu Voluntary Health Promoters course, in 2023, with FUNDAP. She currently resides in a neighborhood in the department of Retalhuleu; She is a single woman who lives in her parents’ house.
As a child, she longed to be able to help her family and her community by working in a pharmacy. She graduated as an expert in business administration and started working in a pharmacy, but she lacked the most important thing: having health knowledge to carry out her dream of helping people.
For this reason, a friend informed her about FUNDAP and the Voluntary Health Promoter courses, which for her was an opportunity to learn. In fact, her course motivated her to continue learning, since María Ces is a recognized leader in her community for the services she provides. In the month of February she began working in her community in a medical clinic, in charge of pre- and post-consultation, thus closing a life cycle. For this reason, she is so grateful to FUNDAP for giving her the opportunity to study this course and train in the world of health.
