NANCY ROMÁN, FUNDAP Education

After six years in the ‘Scholarships for the Girl’ Project, with the invaluable support of her parents, Nancy turned her life around. She has now a professional Business Management degree and her testimony as a former scholarship recipient is very interesting.

Nancy is very clear about her future, but she also helps new young scholarship recipients, encouraging the benefits of continuing their studies. She is 24 years old, has 3 siblings and lives in Retalhuleu. Her parents have always been concerned about the education they received, so before starting school they encouraged them to read and write in order to be better prepared.

However, they realized that it was not as easy for Nancy to learn as it was for her other siblings. Her parents adapted a different teaching method for her, which ended up paying off.

When she was in fourth grade, she joined the Girl’s Scholarship Project, which helped her family a lot. The scholarships covered the costs of her education, providing her with the supplies she needed to continue her education. Nancy was an active student in the meetings where they promoted ethics, values and motivated her to keep going.

For six years she received a scholarship, developing more skills and knowledge, which has allowed her to grow and contribute to society. Now she is a professional with a degree in Business Administration and has worked in different places. She is always focused on continuing with her university studies, and already has a closed curriculum in the Bachelor’s Degree in Management.

Currently, Nancy is working as an academic tutor for the book club in the Scholarship Project for the girl. She feels satisfied to be able to give back what was previously given to her by FUNDAP, and through the tutoring of the reading club, she can contribute to the learning of children and promote in them the importance and benefits of reading.
